A Letter to President Trump (and All Leaders)
Dear President Trump,
Jesus was a refugee.
Moses was a refugee and an immigrant.
And so many people crossing our borders today are doing so not to break laws — but to survive, to protect their children, to flee persecution, and to seek freedom — the very ideals this country was built upon.
We are all God’s people, and we must treat one another with the love, dignity, and respect that reflects the heart of God.
America proudly claims the motto:
“In God We Trust.”
But we must ask ourselves, do we really trust in the God of the Bible — the One who said:
“The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.” — Leviticus 19:34
To trust in God is to obey His heart — not just honor Him in words.
America must not just be great in power — but great in mercy, justice, and love. As believers, we cannot mirror the fear of the world. We must reflect the culture of the Kingdom.
Immigrants and refugees are not enemies. They are often carriers of destiny, like Moses. They may be protected deliverers, like Jesus. And how we treat them reveals whether we truly serve the God we claim to trust.
My Two Cents: Moving Forward with Dignity
I understand — yes, many immigrants may be here illegally. But that doesn’t mean we strip them of their dignity. Instead of focusing on walls and division, what if we focused on pathways to citizenship that honor both law and humanity?
How can we help them gain legal status with dignity and respect?
That is how we move forward — with solutions that reflect compassion and wisdom, not fear and pride.
Because one of life’s greatest principles is this:
What we do to others, we do to ourselves.
